The Port Gamble S�Klallam Tribe of Washington will receive $2.75 million to settle a lawsuit over a dump that polluted the reservation.
The tribe sued Kitsap County and Waste Management of Washington Inc. The county allowed Waste Management to operate a dump adjacent to the reservation.
As a result, the tribe lost over 300 acres to contamination. The settlement will be used to pay for the purchase of new land.
