The president of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin was removed from office on November 11.
The general council ousted George Lewis after questions were raised about a marketing contract he signed in October 2005. The vote was nearly unanimous, with 93 percent of adult tribal members supporting his removal.
But Lewis is fighting his ouster and has filed a request for an injunction in tribal court. A hearing will be held next Monday.
