The Hannahville Indian Community of Michigan is negotiating the purchase of a U.S. Air Force property in Wells Township.
The tribe wants to use the 8.74-acre property for a waterfront housing and recreational development project. An agreement could be reached by the end of the year, an Air Force engineer said.
The Air Force has been cleaning the site of contamination but the tribe would be required to finish the job as a condition of purchase.
