Alec Garfield, the chairman of the Tule River Tribe of California, was named Man of the Year by the Porterville Chamber of Commerce
"I'm really at a loss for words," Garfield said when presented with the award, The Porterville Recorder reported.
Garfield has served as chairman for 19 years, including a 13-year stint from 1970 to 1983.
