North Fork Rancheria to study lead paint dangers

The North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians has received a $59,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to study the dangers of lead-based paint.

The tribe will determine whether children on the reservation are being exposed to lead paint. Lead can lead to brain damage and physical and mental problems.

October 22-28 is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week.
