Montana man gets 80 years for death of transient

A 20-year-old Montana man was sentenced to 80 years in prison for the stabbing death of a transient on the streets of Billings. Rusty Lee Ray Russell was 18 at the time of the April 26, 2005, attack. He was found guilty of deliberate homicide, aggravated assault, robbery by accountability and aggravated assault by accountability for the death of 64-year-old John Gewanski and injuries against 63-year-old Dale Wallin. A co-defendant, Brandon Spotted Wolf, who was also 18 at the time, pleaded guilty for his involvement. He is to be sentenced today. Get the Story:
