The Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma approved a minimum wage increase in hopes of retaining tribal employees.
The new minimum wages is $7.67. That's more than $2 higher than the state and federal minimum wage of $5.15.
Principal Chief A.D. Ellis said the tribe hopes to raise the minimum wage to $10 within the next to years. Two other large tribal employers -- the Cherokee Nation and the Chickasaw Nation -- have not increased their minimum wage.
