For the first time, the flag of the Kumeyaay Indians of California will fly at the Cabrillo National Monument.
The Kumeyaay-Diegueo Nation flag represents all 12 Kumeyaay bands. It was inspired by Jamul elder Jane Dumas, 82, who wondered why her people weren't represented at the monument.
The flag will be unveiled during the annual Cabrillo Festival this weekend. It will fly along the flags of the United States, Mexico, Portugal and Spain.
