Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe gets $1M for water work

The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has received an additional $1 million to complete work on an emergency water project.

The tribe has suffered under a constant threat of drought. The 14,000 people who live on the reservation could lose water due to problems with their water delivery system.

To address the issue, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is moving an intake on Lake Oahe. The project is considered a short-term solution.
