Native actress Irene Bedard enjoyed the 58th annual Primetime Emmy Awards despite the California heat on Sunday.
Bedard attended as one of the starts of "Into the West." The TNT mini-series received 15 nominations -- the most of any television production.
Bedard, who played the daugther of a Lakota woman and a white explorer, says the series has educated viewers. 'A Native American teenager came up to me and said, 'I never knew all this,'" the California resident told The Ventura County Star.
The series ended up winning one Emmy, for single camear sound mixing.
