Kyle Taylor Lucas, a member of the Tulalip Tribes, is running for Washington State Senate but tribes have endorsed her incumbent opponent.
Taylor Lucas, the former executive director of the state Office on Indian Affairs, has the support of labor, environmental and education groups. State Sen. Tim Sheldon, a Democrat, is endorsed by the Squaxin Island Tribe and the Nisqually Tribe, among others.
The two will face each other in the Democratic primary for the 35th Legislative District.
Taylor Lucas is questioning Sheldon's support for President Bush and his labor and environmental record.
