A man from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota went on trial on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
Federal prosecutors say Leroy Clifford Reddest, 59, repeatedly assaulted the girl at her grandmother's home. Reddest was once married to the grandmother's sister and was considered a family member.
The girl didn't tell anyone about the assaults and developed medical problems, family members will testify. She attempted suicide before informing someone about the rapes.
