J.C. Crawford, the former chairman of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribe of South Dakota, has filed to run for office.
Crawford was ousted by the council this past March. He was accused of misappropriation of tribal funds, a charge he denied.
The tribe is holding its primary on October 3 and its general election on November 7. Five other people are running for chairman.
