Members of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana will decide whether they want to get into coal development.
The tribe owns 1 billion-plus tons of coal. A referendum will be held in November to consider developing the reserves.
Separately, the tribe wants to talk with the state about the development of coal reserves near the reservation. The tribe reached an agreement with the state about mining of the Otter Creek coal tracts.
