Man charged for accident that killed Native woman

Martha Brown, an Athabascan-Aleut woman from Alaska, was killed in a car accident in Anchorage.
Brown, 41, was hit by a drunk driver whose blood alcohol reading almost five times the legal limit. She died after being taken to a local hospital.
Paul Evon, 55, has been charged with second-degree murder and drunken driving. He has a criminal record with incidents linked to alcohol use.
Brown was a mother of three children and was caring for two foster kids. She supervised the elders program at Southcentral Foundation, a health care agency of the Cook Inlet Region Inc., an Alaska Native regional corporation.
