The Navajo Nation Council is considering a bill that would create a tribal identification system.
Tribal members like the idea. They say it would be more convenient to carry a photo ID rather than a paper-based Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood.
The money for the $149,577 program would be used to purchase identification card equipment to produce the tribal cards.
