A reported 10,000 Native athletes from the U.S. and Canada are in Denver, Colorado, this week for the 2006 Indigenous Games.
The games began on Monday. Athletes representing hundreds of tribes are competing in events ranging from archery to golf to wrestling. The competition runs through Sunday.
The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and the Southern Ute Tribe each put in $600,000 to sponsor the games. Other donations raised the amount to $2 million.
