Alonzo Coby has been chosen as the new chairman of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Idaho.
Coby was elected to the council after receiving the most votes in last month's general election. Yesterday morning, council members elected him as their chairman.
"I got big shoes to fill. Blaine Edmo's been chairman for years, and his father, they've done a good job in representing our people," Coby told KPVI-TV, referring to the tribe's most recent chairman.
Coby plans to emphasize tradition, culture and economic development. He also wants to work with local and state government.
