Editorial: Help welcome for Indian radio stations

"Finally, some good news for struggling Native American radio stations.

A $1.5 million grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has established the Center for Native American Radio as a resource for the roughly three dozen stations around the country.

It won't provide any funding for the stations, but it will offer advice and direct them to organizations for grants and fund-raising.

It comes at a great time for South Dakota. Of our four Native American stations, only one remains on the air - KINI-FM at St. Francis, which receives funding from the Catholic church and donations."
