Elizabeth Tuttle, a member of the Fallon-Paiute Shoshone Tribe of Nevada, is the first Native American to serve as executive officer for the Junior ROTC at her high school.
Tuttle joined ROTC as a freshman at Churchill County High School. She said the program has created new educational and social opportunities for her.
Tuttle was selected for the executive officer post by school administrators and will start serving in the fall, when she will be a senior. The post is the second highest in Junior ROTC.
