Joshua Benally, a Navajo teen from New Mexico, is headed go the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Rhode Island this fall to continue his military career.
Benally just graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute. He decided to go to the Naval prep school because he wanted "something different, like being on water and away from the desert," he told The Farmington Daily Times.
To get into the school, Benally secured nominations from Rep. Tom Udall (D-New Mexico), Sen. Pete Domenici (R-New Mexico) and Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-New Mexico).
