Tommy Whiteman is the first member of the Crow Tribe of Montana to play professional baseball.
Whiteman, 26, has played the last two seasons at Colorado Springs, a minor league team that feeds into the major league Colorado Rockies. He was a former prospect for the Houston Astros.
Whiteman is an infielder. The Rockies just promoted him from extended spring training to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
