The Yurok Tribe in northern California is opposing plans to place a cell tower on Trinidad Head.
Trinidad Head is home to a rock outcropping and an ancient Tsurai Village. The tribe says a proposed communications facility and tower would destroy the sacred area.
The city of Trinidad Head is negotiating with U.S. Cellular to host the tower. The tribe wants the Bureau of Land Management to step in. The BLM previously managed the site.
