Monday, May 8, 2006

The memorial fund for Chief Melvin Francis, the late governor of the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point, has been granted tax-exempt status.
Francis died on January 12 when his pickup truck collided with an oil truck. He was on tribal business at the time.
The fund has appointed a board of directors to start raising money for small projects. A web site is in the works.
