Sandia Pueblo adopts minimum wage for employees

Sandia Pueblo in New Mexico has approved an minimum wage of $8 an hour for employees, higher than the state minimum of $5.15 an hour.

The tribe employs about 2,000 people. Many of them work at the tribe's successful casino right outside Albuquerque.

The minimum wage in Albuquerque was recently raised to $6.75 an hour and will be raised to $7.50 an hour in 2009.
