Lawrence Morgan, the speaker of the Navajo Nation Council, has been charged with battery for allegedly assaulting another council delegate.
The incident allegedly took place last Thursday in a bathroom at the council headquarters in Window Rock, Arizona. Delegate Mark Maryboy says he got into a shoving match with Morgan over a legislative dispute earlier in the day.
Maryboy is a delegate from Aneth, Utah. The Aneth community released a letter calling on Morgan to apologize. If Morgan apologizes, they want Maryboy to drop his complaint.
