Native man seeks donor for second liver transplant

A 52-year-old member of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma needs a liver transplant to save his life.

Richard Haury, who is also part Sioux and Navajo, lives in New Mexico but is hospitalized at Loma Linda University & Medical Center in California. If he doesn't receive a transplant, he faces death. He received his first transplant five years ago.

Haury was the first American Indian to play football for the University of New Mexico, according to The Redlands Daily Facts. He later coached at the former Albuquerque Indian School before joining the Albuquerque Police Department. He retired last year after becoming sick.
