A new intake for the Mni Waste Water System will help address the water crisis faced by the
Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota.
The tribe has faced drought conditions and a loss of water due to problems with the reservation's sole water delivery system. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says a $2.8 million intake, deep into Lake Oahe, should help.
The fix is short term. The tribe has been seeking a long term solution to prevent 14,000 people on the reservation from losing water.
