Native youth use theater to share traditions

Native students in Billings, Montana, are using theater to share their traditions and culture.

The Native American Youth Theater Group features a cast of 24 Native students, who range in age from 9 to 15. They put together a play called "In the Beginning" to share their heritage with a wider audience.

The group performed the play at Lewis and Clark Middle School on Thursday. "Most people don't understand why Native Americans do these things and they think we aren't capable," Telsa Madden, 16, told The Billings Gazette. "This shows them wrong.
