A member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe was found guilty in state court of murdering his sister's husband but an appeal to the Montana Supreme Court is expected.
The jury convicted Joel White, 47, after six hours of deliberations and seven days of testimony. But since a juror told fellow panel members about White's criminal record in potential violation of a court ruling, an appeal is being planned.
White was charged with stabbing Gary Temple to death in Billings. His sister, Diana Temple, testified that White threatened her in the Cheyenne language after her husband collapsed on the street.
