Shootout on Walker River Paiute Reservation

The police chief, a police officer and two people were wounded on Wednesday in a shootout on the Walker River Paiute Reservation in Nevada.

The shootout began when tribal officers, accompanied by Bureau of Indian Affairs and Drug Enforcement Administration agents, went to a home to serve a warrant. A neighbor said the home was a hangout for drug users.

At the home, a man barricaded himself and his son inside and reportedly began shooting. He surrendered after he and his son were wounded. Police chief Joe McMinn and another officer were also wounded. All four were airlifted to a medical facility in Reno.
