The Yakama Nation of Washington is threatening to sue the city of Toppenish over a land annexation plan.
The city council was about to approve the annexation when Yakama Chairwoman Lavina Washines objected. She asked the city to work with the tribe before taking action.
Toppenish is located entirely within reservation boundaries. The 79 acres in question are adjacent to tribal-owned property.
