Queen Elizabeth II will unveil a monument to Sachem Mohamet Weyonomon, a Mohegan chief who died of smallpox in England in 1763.
Weyonomon went to England to petition King George II for the return of land that had been taken by British settlers. He died in London's smallpox outbreak and was buried in an unmarked grave.
A sculpture will be erected at the Southwark Cathedral, where Weyonomon was buried.
Members of the Mohegan Tribe will attend the dedication in London this month.
