Yakama Nation's wild horses promoted in movie

The Yakama Nation of Washington hopes the upcoming Fox family film "Flicka" will convince moviegoers to take home some of the tribe's wild horses.

The tribe entered into a promotional partnership with Fox. For just $100, people can adopt a wild horse. For an extra fee, the tribe will alter-train and/or saddle-break the horse.

The idea came from Janet Wainwright, a Seattle publicist who represents Fox. She read a newspaper story that detailed some of the tribe's management struggles with the herd, which numbers around 5,000 on the 1.4 million-acre reservation.

"Flicka" opens this Friday.
