The discovery of remains dating back 7,000 years has stopped development at a community college campus in Brentwood, California.

State park officials said they wouldn't approve the main access road to the Contra Costa Community College branch due to the remains "This is a very significant site," a park superintendent told The Contra Costa Times.

At another site in Brentwood, construction crews have removed the remains of at least 500 ancestors from a housing subdivision. A third burial ground has been found at a proposed state park.
