Excavation uncovers village at development site

More than 8,800 artifacts have been discovered at the site of a big development project in Connecticut.

An archaeological report says the village dates back 4,000 to 5,000 years. Some of the artifacts include tools made with stone not found in the area.

The report recommends that the site be preserved. But Utopia Studios says it won't interfere with plans to build a $1.6 billion studio complex.

The site is located near the Mohegan Reservation and the Mashantucket Pequot Reservation. Both tribes have been contacted. No remains appear to have been found.
