The Makah Nation of Washington only less than two days' worth of water in its storage tank.
The tribe can tap into the Waatch River in order to keep the supply at current levels. But should the river drop, the tribe will run out of water.
The state plans to truck in drinking water in case that happens. The Bureau of Indian Affairs is also looking for ways to help out.
The tribe is developing a $6.4 million plan to address water shortages. Plans call for a new water treatment plant and tapping into alternative water sources.
