The Chickasaw Nation has agreed to remodel and staff an unused fire substation in Newcastle, city officials said.
The city said it would provide fire services to the tribe's trust land in exchange for the funding. It will cost $250,000 to remodel the substation and another $100,000 a year for the salaries of three firefighters.
The tribe operates a casino in Newcastle.
