Howard Dean, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is visiting South Dakota on Wednesday to learn more about tribal issues.
Dean is scheduled to meet with tribal leaders and tribal members in Rapid City. He will participate in a news conference to honor Clarence Wolfguts, the last surviving Lakota code talker.
In recent national elections, tribal members in South Dakota have overwhelmingly voted for Democratic candidates.
