Harold Frazier, the incument chairman of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, received the most votes in the primary held on Tuesday although absentee and provisional ballots still need to be counted.

Frazier faced 15 other challengers in the race. He received nearly twice as many votes as Frank D. Thompson, who came in second.

Frazier and Thompson will compete in the November general election unless the count of the absentee and provisional ballots changes the results. Also up for grabs are the secretary and treasurer posts and six district representatives.
