The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony in Nevada is breaking ground today on a $19 million health center.
The 65,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in September 2007. It replaces a 14,000-square-foot clinic that the tribe has outgrown.
The tribe financed most of the project with $15.8 million in tax-exempt bonds. The remaining $2 million came from the Indian Health Services and $1.2 million from a community development block grant.
The full-service, ambulatory clinic is expected to handle more than 100,000 patients a year.
