John Fendenheim, a member of the Tohono O'odham Nation, has opened a new Indian art store in Tucson, Arizona.

Spirit Mountain Trading is his first in the city. His two other stores are located on the reservation.

"I often tell people, 'I'm just an old rez boy trying to get by,'" Fendenheim said in an interview with The Arizona Daily Star.

But opening up the business in Tucson was easier than doing it on the reservation, he said. "It took two years for approval on the reservation. It took two weeks to get approved here," he told the paper.

In addition to running his stores, Fendenheim serves as chairman of the board of the Tohono O'odham Gaming Enterprise.
