Judge won't dismiss Ottawa Tribe's claim in Ohio


A federal judge denied the state of Ohio's motion to dismiss the Ottawa Tribe's hunting and fishing right lawsuit.

The state said the tribe, based in Oklahoma, waited too long to make its claim. He also said the claim lacked merit.

The tribe is citing hunting and fishing rights on Lake Erie under the 1805 Treaty of Fort Industry. The tribe also says it owns part of Bass Island on Lake Erie.
