Martha Berryhill, one of the two remaining original Creek allottees, celebrated her 106th birthday on Wednesday.

Berryhill was born on July 12, 1900. She was only 18 months old when she was placed on the Dawes Rolls and allotted about 100 acres in Okmulgee County.

Berryhill no longer lives on her allotment, having sold it about 20 years ago. But she's maintained an active lifestyle and is always eager to share stories about her upbringing.

At a birthday celebration, family and friends honored Berryhill as a deeply religious and vibrant woman. She still cooks her breakfast every day and has a hearty appetite, her 85-year-old daughter said.
