Eight Northern Pueblos get ready for big art show

The Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show, one of the top rated arts shows in the country, takes place this weekend.

The Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Council, representing the Pueblos of Ohkay Owingeh, Picuris, Pojoaque, San Ildefonso, Santa Clara, Taos and Tesuque, have been holding the show for the past 35 years. After rotating among the eight reservations, the tribes settled on Ohkay Owingeh as the permanent location of the event.

This year's show is expected to draw 400 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors. Artists from all 19 New Mexico Pueblos, plus the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe and other tribes, will show their arts and crafts.

The show takes place July 15-16.
