About 200 parents and kids braved the heat on Monday for the Navajo Nation Department of Youth's summer kick off.
The event in Shiprock, New Mexico, was designed to let Navajo families learn about the programs offered by the youth department.
Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. urged the youth to help their community and tribe.
Lil Dre, a Navajo hip-hop artist from Shiprock, performed and said Navajo youth need more activities in the summer.
