The Indian community is mourning the loss of Jack V. Anquoe, a Kiowa elder, dancer and singer who died on Monday, June 12, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 73.
Anquoe belonged to the Black Leggings Warrior Society, a group of Kiowa veterans. He was the lead lead of the Gray Horse Singers, considered one of the first national Indian drum groups.
Funeral services were held yesterday. Anquoe was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa.
