Indian shirt goes for $800K in Sotheby's auction

A shirt said to have come from the Blackfoot Tribe in Canada went for $800,000 at a Sotheby's auction this week.

The 19th-century shirt and 38 other items were from the private collection of the Earl of Southesk. The earl visited Canada in the mid-1800s and was one of the first Europeans to explore the region.

Other items sold include a beaded hide dress that went for $500,000 and a beaded hide legging that went for $93,000. A museum in Alberta, where many of the items came from, landed two-thirds of the collection.

The auction was held in New York on Monday.
