The Senate Majority Project, a group founded by former Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. (D-South Dakota), filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission complaint that accuses the New Hampshire Republican Party of hiding a donation from the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
The tribe donated the money shortly before Election Day 2002. Around the same time, the NH GOPs jammed the phone lines of a Democratic get-out-the-vote program.
The NH GOP reported the Choctaw contribution as $5,000. But the Senate Majority Project says the tribe actually gave $10,000, twice the legal limit.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians also donated $5,000 to the NH GOP. The Agua Caliente Band and the Choctaw Band were clients of Jack Abramoff.
