The Native Financial Education Coalition, a group of local, regional and national Indian organizations, is holding a briefing on Capitol Hill next Thursday, April 27.

The briefing will highlight the importance of financial literacy for American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians. Representatives of the Navajo Partnership for Housing, Chief Dull Knife College and the Umatilla Indian Housing Authority will highlight their financial literacy programs, and the coalition will make policy recommendations aimed at improving financial literacy.

�Bridging the Gap: Improving Native Communities through Financial Literacy and Education� takes place in Room B-354 of the Rayburn House Office Building on April 27. A networking breakfast starts at 8:15am. The briefing will begin at 9am.

The coalition is presenting the briefing in cooperation with the First Nations Oweesta Corporation, the First Nations Development Institute, the National Congress of American Indians and the National American Indian Housing Council. Sponsors are the Annie E. Casey Foundation and Fannie Mae.
